CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA. -- Police found the body of a woman floating in Lake Allatoona Sunday morning.
According to Cherokee Sheriff's Office Lt. Jay Baker, deputies were called to the Kellogg Creek Day Use area on Kellogg Creek Road near the bridge around 11:40 a.m.
A boater reported seeing a body floating in the water.
33- year old Sheila Ann Carlotta of Marietta was identified by family members and acquaintances late Sunday. They told police she was swimming in the area.
Detectives continue to piece together the events leading up to her death but say currently no foul play is suspected.
Deputies think she was in the water for less than 24 hours. She was located near the beach area in approximately three feet of water and approximately 20 feet from shore.
The body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy which will likely take place Tuesday.
