DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- 11Alive has learned another resident in DeKalb County had problems with the 911 service.

The problems have reportedly happened in Dunwoody -- which now has a new system in place – and, more recently, in Brookhaven and Druid Hills.

Shelley Shaw said her smoke alarm went off Sunday night. She said her security company called 911, but was left on hold for several minutes before reaching an operator.

"The alarm company called me and said, 'I'm calling. I'm trying to get the fire department – I'm on the phone with them,'" said Shaw.

According to open records obtained by 11Alive, a crew was dispatched to the Shaw's home at 4:14 a.m. and arrived at 4:22 a.m. According to information provided to 11Alive, the original 911 call was placed at 4;03 a.m.

Shaw is thankful that it was a faulty alarm and not a life-or-death situation.
