FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- The body of a 19-year-old boy was found in Lake Lanier a few days after he disappeared.

Cody Daniel Gibbs drowned in the lake, according to Forsyth County Sheriff's spokesman Doug Rainwater. His body was recovered Thursday morning, about 50 yards from where he went missing.

Gibbs was one of three teens reported missing shortly after police broke up an illegal party of about 20 people at Two Mile Creek Park. Two girls were located Tuesday afternoon.

Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers said officials searched for the teens after party attendees scattered when a sheriff deputy tried to break it up. He said a few of the people jumped into the lake. Crews from the Forsyth County Fire Department, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and Hall County Sheriff's Office used sonar equipment to search the waters.

Rainwater told 11Alive News that "heavy" drugs were being used at the party, including marijuana, heroin and other narcotics.

While rescuers were hopeful Gibbs was hiding somewhere, his friends said they were convinced he drowned in the lake.

"His family is worried sick and there's just no sign of him anywhere," said Paige Frost. Frost said she was picking her brother up at the party when the sheriff's deputy arrived.

Alex McClusky has known Gibbs for a long time and refuted early reports that Gibbs was known to disappear in the past. McClusky said Gibbs was about to become a father.

"He was dedicated to be a father, he is a brother, he is a son, he is a grandchild," he said. "Cody doesn't do this."

Cody's brother says his family has a GoFundMe account set up for Cody. They asked us to include the link.
