DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- Two Yeager Middle School students were detained by police for bringing an Airsoft gun to school Tuesday.
Stan Copeland with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said a student saw the gun and reported it to school resource officers, who in turn called police.
Authorities placed the school on lockdown for about 40 minutes. The lockdown was lifted at around 9:30 a.m.The boys, who are 11 and 12 years old, were reported to resource officers by another student who saw them with the unloaded replica gun in a bathroom at the Douglasville school.
The two boys tried to hide the gun in the bathroom's ceiling, where sheriff's investigators found it, Copeland said.
Investigators said that it's unclear what the boys intended to do with the gun. The boys will face possession of a weapon on campus charge.
No one was hurt.
