The wreck happened shortly after 7 a.m. on northbound I-85 at Steve Reynolds Boulevard in unincorporated Duluth.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said Zelaya Torres's Honda Odyssey swerved and clipped a tractor trailer driven by 39-year-old Eric Murray of Minneapolis, Minn. Both drivers lost control and their vehicles slid off the road.

Murray was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 62-year-old Bryant Garrott, also of Minneapolis, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Zelaya Torres was also transported to Gwinnett Medical Center; after being discharged, she was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail.

Four right lanes of I-85 were blocked at the scene for hours as crews investigated the wreck.
