DULUTH, Ga. – Seven children were burned in an accident at the Southeastern Railway Museum on Tuesday, fire officials say.

According to Capt. Tommy Rutledge of the Gwinnett County Fire Department, the children, aged 4 to 11, suffered first- and second-degree burns when hot embers blew from the train's stack and landed on them. The burns were said to be small. Some children had one burn spots, while others had two.

The children, who were visiting the museum on a field trip from a local daycare group, were not transported to the hospital.

The museum issued a statement saying,

The museum's mechanical team will be reviewing the locomotive involved and determining next actions. The museum's historical train will remain out of service until such time as evaluation is complete and we can ensure our guests that we will not experience a recurrence of this situation.
