(ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE) -- What's the world's most trusted airline? While that might be a matter of subjective opinion, Delta Air Lines Inc. wants to leave no room for doubt.
Delta is staking a claim to the title of "The World's Most Trusted Airline." The Atlanta-based carrier (NYSE: DAL) is seeking a U.S. trademark on the slogan, to cover air transportation services. Delta filed for the trademark on June 3.

It's too soon to know if any other airline who believes it may be damaged by the trademark will oppose it being awarded to Delta. The World Airlines Awards, which claims to publish the world's largest airline passenger satisfaction survey, last year named Emirates the world's top airline, with Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, ANA All Nippon Airways and Asiana Airlines rounding out the top five. The 2014 awards will be announced July 15.
Delta can objectively lay claim to one first: Itcarried more total system passengers in 2013 than any other U.S. airline for the fourth consecutive year, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
In February, Delta was named to Fortune magazine's 2014 list of the top 50 most admired companies.
