KENNESAW, Ga. -- Police have given the all-clear after students were warned of a possible armed man on the campus of Kennesaw State University Friday afternoon.

According to KSU official Tammy DeMel, campus police received a call about a a suspicious man with a possible gun in his pocket around 2 p.m.

Authorities locked down the campus as a precaution and searched for the man.

Students received a text alert about a gunman on the school's Campus Green shortly after 2 p.m. The text read, "Possible armed man on Campus Green. There are reports of an armed man on the Campus Green. Shelter in and lock the door."

Megan McGuinness was in the library.

"We all looked out the window -- you can see the Commons from the library -- and next thing you know, you see about 20 cops pull this one guy out, throw him in the back of a car, and then that was it," said McGuinness.

"At approximately 3:30 p.m., police found the individual with a cell phone in his pocket and confirmed that he was not a threat and never posed a threat to the community," said DeMel.

Police gave the all-clear at 3:25 p.m.

The university spokesperson said that the follow-up investigation will include an interview with the person who made the call about a possible gunman.
