KENNESAW, Ga. -- Police have released the 911 tapes from the April 29 shooting at the FedEx Ground warehouse in Kennesaw.
Just before 6 a.m., police said Geddy Kramer of Acworth drove up to a security gate, stormed out and shot the security officer. Authorities say Kramer then walked into the building and proceeded to shoot five more people. About three hours later, Kramer was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
These tapes are very difficult to listen to. You can hear the chaos and panic of people, and workers ushering employees out of the building to safety.
One of the calls is from that security officer who was shot, Christopher Sparkman. Another call is from a woman who was helping him.
11alive did not want to air any of them until we touched base with the family of the most seriously injured victim. 28-year-old Christopher Sparkman is still in the hospital. We asked staff there to reach out to his family to let them know that police released the 911 tapes. The spokesperson says they are aware of the tapes.
