ATLANTA -- Martin Luther King Jr. Drive has opened between Centenntial Olympic Park Drive and Northside Drive after possible structuraldamage to the MLK bridge.

Fire officialsbelieve itmay have beendamaged by a fire at a homeless encampment at Magnum and Mitchell streets, just before Tuesday's afternoon rush hour.

About 30 people were living in the encampment.They were all evacuated andno injuries were reported.

Georgia DOT inspectors and Atlanta Public Works officials werechecking the bridge's integrity Wednesdaymorning.

The MLKbridge runs over railroadtracks andconnects Castleberry Hill to Downtown Atlanta near the Georgia Dome.

Even though the fire occured on Mitchell Street, the new $8.8 million Mitchell Street bridge was not damaged by the fire.
