NORCROSS, Ga. -- Gwinnett County Police officers responded to a call of a person shot at the Paces Crossing Apartments on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in unincorporated Norcross at about 7 am Friday, where they found a dead black male at the entrance to the complex.

Police identified the victim as 35-year-old William Damron of Tennessee.

Investigators said the incident was related to a domestic dispute between an estranged husband, a wife and a third party. Charges have not been filed due to claims of self-defense by the third party and by unaffiliated witness accounts.

Gwinnett homicide detectives and crime scene personnel are continuing their investigation of the shooting.
