NORCROSS, Ga. -- No one was hurt when a suspect opened fire on a veteran Gwinnett County police officer.
It happened at around 10:20 p.m. Sunday during an attempted traffic stop near the intersection of Dawson Boulevard and Graves Road.
Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Troy Tobler said the police officer spotted a dark-colored four-door sedan speeding through the area. The officer activated his cruiser's blue lights and started a traffic stop.
Someone inside the sedan rolled down a window and fired three to five shots at the officer, according to Tobler. The officer was not hit.
The suspect's car sped off, but another police officer found it at the Sienna Heights Apartments in the 1300 block of Graves Road. Its driver was arrested for reckless driving. A passenger was not charged.
Tobler said no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Investigators found shell casings on the ground near the scene of the traffic stop.
