SMYRNA, Ga. -- Authorities say a 9-year-boy and his father were found safe after a two-day search.
Braiden Stow had last been seen Tuesday in Smyrna.
Investigators said the boy's father, Ryan Stow, who ordinarily has custody of Braiden on weekends, had planned to take the boy on a camping trip. The boy's grandparents -- with whom Braiden lives -- said they had found a note written by Ryan Stow that specifically mentioned "suicide by cop." Police said they were concerned about the safety of both Braiden and his father.
The two were located in Alabama on Thursday, according to Edward Cason of the Smyrna Police Department. They were said to be okay. The father told authorities that he didn't have his cell phone with him and wasn't aware people were looking for them.
The case remains under investigation, police said.
Police believe Ryan Stow kidnapped his 9-year-old son Braiden, and that the two may be hiding at a campground.
