FAIRBURN, Ga. -- A one-year-old baby girl is expected to make a full recovery after falling from a second story window, according to the girl's father.
Thursday evening, police responded to a 911 call to Bowhead Court in Fairburn. They discovered one-year-old Cheyenne Sterling had fallen from the second story bedroom window of the family's home. Fulton Police spokesperson Lt. Scott McBride said the child was in and out of consciousness and taken by helicopter to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Egleston Hospital.
11Alive's Blayne Alexander spoke with the girl's father by phone Thursday evening. Lorenzo Duckworth was still at the hospital with his daughter, but told Alexander he expected to bring her home late Thursday night. According to Duckworth, doctors said the little girl did not break any bones, and she is expected to make a full recovery.
Duckworth called the whole thing a horrible accident. His four children were playing in an upstairs bedroom, he said; an eight-year-old brother was holding Cheyenne when she somehow fell out of the window.
Lt. McBride said police are still looking into what happened. The child's mother was home at the time, but McBride said she is not being investigated.
