FAIRFIELD, AL (WXIA) - A 15-year-old boy was shot in the foot early Friday while waiting in line at a suburban Birmingham mall to buy the newest Nike Jordan shoes, according to the Birmingham News.
Police said the teen was shot just after 2 a.m. while he waited with a group of about 50 people waiting for the release of the new Air Jordan Retro shoe. The black, yellow and white shoes retail for $170 and were slated to be released nationally on Friday.
Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis told the News two people were in custody in connection with the shooting.
At least three similar incidents have taken place in other parts of the nation in connection with the release of Nike sneakers over the past year.
