5th graders use lemonade stand to help needy families
Students at Sarah Smith Elementary in Atlanta gave away free lemonade and collected $247 in donations that translated into 1500 pounds of food for needy families
ATLANTA-- A trio of fifth graders at Atlanta's Sarah Smith Elementary have learned a dollar can do a long way when you're helping those in need.
The boys organized a lemonade stand as members of the school's Junior Beta Club. Over two days, they collected $247 to give to The Suthers Center, an outreach program for needy families.
The center brought boxes filled with food to the school to show the fifth graders how their money will feed 55 families.
