ATLANTA -- Too many big red X's were causing confusion on Dekalb Avenue, until Commuter Dude stepped in.
The street, complete with its reversible center lane, is a main thoroughfare between Decatur and downtown Atlanta.
An 11Alive viewer contacted Commuter Dude, complaining that the lights were malfunctioning over a half-mile section of Dekalb Avenue. Commuter Dude found X's over the reversible lane in both directions in that half mile section, essentially telling traffic not to use what is supposed to be a valuable lane of rush hour travel.
"It's been that way off and on for maybe about a month," said commuter Mike Service.
Out of habit, some drivers used the center lane despite the red X.
Commuter Dude contacted the city of Atlanta. A spokesperson said there was a delay in the timing for the red X.
By the next morning, the problem was resolved.
