FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- After seeing an 11Alive News report on an unresolved safety issue on Feldwood Road, Fulton County's Commission Chairman vowed to have the problem fixed as soon as possible.
"It's clearly a safety hazard," said Commission Chair John Eaves. "I think citizens in that part of our county deserve better."
On Wednesday, 11Alive's Commuter Dude revealed how a portion of Feldwood Road was missing the yellow center line that should separate drivers traveling in opposite directions.
Jennifer Smith says on two occasions, it nearly resulted in head on collisions.
"I was topping the hill, and a car was on my side of the street," said Smith. "I darted to the right."
After emailing and calling Fulton County's Department of Public Works, Commuter Dude got an email saying the issue was on a list of projects to be addressed in 2014.
Commuter Dude went to the Fulton County Commission meeting to push for a quicker resolution. The commission chairman approached and said he'd seen Wednesday's report and agreed the situation couldn't linger until 2014.
"I've directed the county manager to do an assessment, find out how much it costs, and get it done as soon as possible," said Eaves.
Commuter Dude is waiting for word on exactly when the yellow centerline will be restored to Feldwood Road.
