Fox Sports Live debuts next month and the network is reaching across the athletic spectrum to make its initial splash.
NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton, NFL stars Donovan McNabb and Ephraim Salaam, tennis star Andy Roddick and broadcaster Charissa Thompson will create a panel to create commentary and analysis on Fox Sports 1 the new network that debuts Aug. 17.
The show will be Fox's answer to ESPN's SportsCenter.
"We are so excited to welcome Gary, Donovan and Ephraim to FOX Sports and we're thrilled to have Charissa back in the family," said Fox VP Scott Ackerson said. "The group officially unveiled today, with Andy, represents some of the best in their fields, and we are confident that they'll provide a fresh, unique perspective to the sports news of the day, creating engaging and entertaining television."
Thompson will host the panel and the sports news desk will be anchored by Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole who anchored a show for eight years in Canada.
"There is no faking chemistry," said McNabb. "We don't care if the camera is on or not ...you don't know Andy Roddick off the court. You don't know Gary Payton away from the basketball court. Get ready for a show, kick your feet up, get your popcorn ready, get your chips and dip and make some Kool-Aid in the process. We are going to have a good time."
