SYDNEY, NSW, Australia (USA Today) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers open the 2014 Major League Baseball season in Sydney at 4 a.m. ET Saturday morning. The second game of the two-game series is later Saturday at 11 p.m. ET
In the first game, the Diamondbacks send Wade Miley to the mound opposing Clayton Kershaw, the 2013 National League Cy Young Award winner.
The two lefties met twice last season. On May 8, Miley prevailed with a 3-2 win at Dodger Stadium after allowing two runs in 7 2/3 innings. On June 10, the Diamondbacks posted 5-4 win at the Dodgers with a 4-run ninth inning as Miley allowed three runs in six innings.
In Miley's three spring training starts, he is 0-1 with a 1.29 ERA (two earned runs in 14 innings pitched).
The Diamondbacks' Trevor Cahill will start the second game against LA's Hyun-Jin Ryu.
