ATLANTA -- The sobering meaning of Memorial Day wasn't lost on those attending the Atlanta Braves game on Monday.

When it comes to support, loyal Braves fan Shauna Hicks isn't shy to show it, proudly sporting a tattoo of the team's mascot. But at Monday's Memorial Day game she saluted men in another uniform. Instead of yelling from the seats, she passed the innings on foot. She's reached out a hometeam hand and spoke two important words every soldier loves to hear: thank you.

"If they don't have our support, they're out there for nothing," Hicks said. "So everyone that can support them, everybody should."

Hicks was one of many who decided enjoying one American tradition was the perfect time to start a new one.

Soldiers attended the game for free, and the gratitude was free flowing.
