ATLANTA (WXIA) -- The Atlanta Braves announced Friday afternoon that struggling second baseman Dan Uggla had been released by the team. The announcement came in a quick Tweet shortly before 3 p.m.
Uggla was in his fourth season with the Braves. This season has been rough for the 34-year-old, batting .162 (21-for-130) with two homers and 10 RBIs in 48 games.
The team plans a corresponding roster move prior to Friday night's game.
