El Segundo, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Lakers exercised the option on center Andrew Bynum's contract for the 2012-13 season Monday.
Financial terms of the contract were not released.
The 25-year-old All-Star appeared in all 60 games for the Lakers during last year's shortened season, averaging 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds -- both career-highs -- while adding 1.9 blocks per game.
He added 16.7 points, 11.1 rebounds and 3.1 blocks in the playoffs, where Los Angeles was eliminated in the Western Conference semifinals by the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games.
The 10th overall pick in the 2005 draft, Bynum has spent his entire seven-year career with the Lakers, averaging 11.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.6 blocks over 392 games.
