ATHENS, Ga. -- The recent transfers and dismissals from the University of Georgia football team have generated countless hours of discussion on sports talk radio, on message boards or just about anywhere two or more Georgia fans gather together.

Since the 2013 season ended, the Bulldogs have seen the dismissal of two starting safeties as well as the transfer of a starting cornerback, an inside linebacker and a wide receiver. A senior outside linebacker has hung up his cleats and on Wednesday a freshman tight end quit the program after his first few weeks.

Reporters had a chance to talk with inside linebacker Ryne Rankin on Thursday so of course he was asked if there was an underlying issue or common theme.

"I don't think there is an issue," Rankin said. "You just have to act right. It's not hard to act right. I was always raised to act right, if I didn't act right, I was getting hit. My parents put me in line and I am thankful for that. If kids can't act right then I guess you are going to see some consequences."

Those consequences affect more than just the players who break the rules. The entire team suffers when talented players are dismissed. Rankin didn't seem concerned though.

"We got the players we got now," Rankin said. "We ain't going to sit here and look at people who are goneā€¦get on the team or get left. That is what it is. You have to act right when you are in college, especially when your scholarship is paid for and everything is free."

Rankin stopped short of saying that Georgia won't miss the players who are gone.

"It's sad to see people leave the program but you've just got to be able to act right," Rankin said. "I mean, grow up be a man. You act wrong in society out there; you're going to end up in jail. It's just simple."
