ATHENS, Ga. -- The annual recruiting event at the University of Georgia has been called "Dawg Night" for years. However this year the name was changed to Dawg Day, referencing the fact that a second underclassmen camp was added in the morning. During the break between the first camp and the upperclassmen camp slated for 5:00 p.m. ET, the Georgia staff got its first big news of the day.

Three-star athlete Shaquery Wilson of Coral Gables, Fla., was the first player to commit on the newly anointed Dawg Day.

"Yes sir, I committed to Georgia," Wilson said. "The coaches were really happy."

The 6-foot-1, 189 pound senior had 18 other college offers. Wilson was being recruited for multiple positions as he could play in the secondary or as a wide receiver in college.

"Right now I am committed as a defensive back," Wilson said.

New defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt has placed an emphasis on rebuilding Georgia's depleted secondary. Wilson's commitment will help with that goal.
