Flowery Branch, Ga -- After the most disappointing season under Mike Smith, the Falcons head coach says he wants his team to win the line of scrimmage.

In order to do that, the coach says, his team has to be tougher. Talking about his team's 4-12 record last year, Smith says the Falcons were hurt most by a lack of strength and size on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

The stats would back up the head coach. The offense ranked last in rushing, and quarterback Matt Ryan was sacked a career-high 44 times.

The defense ranked last in third-down efficiency, second-worst against the run and third-fewest in sacks. Both Smith and Ryan spoke on Tuesday just before the team hit the weight room.
