Atlanta, Ga -- The Atlanta Silverbacks football club is still alive in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament. The Silverbacks will go for a 3rd straight win over a Major League Soccer opponent when the Silverbacks host the Chicago Fire Wednesday in quarterfinal action. The Silverbacks' run began in late May with a 5-0 pounding of Chattanooga and was followed up by back to back wins over MLS opponents. The Silverbacks knocked off last year's MLS runner-up, Real Salt Lake, 2-1 at Silverbacks Park June 14 then followed with a dramatic physical win on the road over the Colorado Rapids in Denver. Now it's the Chicago Fire, giving fans a chance to see the Silverbacks in action against another MLS opponent at Silverbacks park. Kickoff is 7:30 Wednesday July 9.
