It was very hot and muggy Friday. We will repeat the heat and humidity on Saturday. The heat advisory was expanded northward to include areas east of Atlanta near Lake Oconee. The heat advisory is along a line from Clarke, Oconee, Morgan and Jasper co to the south and east. In these areas, the heat index on Saturday will be over 105 degrees. Atlanta is not in the advisory. We are just below the advisory level. We will have a heat index between 100-103.

There is only a 20% chance of a shower Saturday in the metro area. The chances are a little higher in extreme north Georgia. A system from the north will weaken as it pushes a few showers into north Georgia.

Please take the necessary precautions to beat the heat. Here are a few:
1. Drink plenty of water – make sure you stay hydrated
2. Dress for the Weather – wear light color, loose fit, and light weight clothing
3. Take Breaks – limit your time outdoor.

A backdoor front is forecast to move through on Sunday. It will bring us some showers Sunday into early Monday. Temps will drop behind it, back to the upper 80s for next week.
