Candy crash delays morning commute

ATLANTA - Trick-or-treat came early for commuters on northbound Interstate 285 early Tuesday morning when a candy truck made an unexpected delivery.

A truck hauling 35,000 pounds of candy overturned at northbound I-285 near Northlake Parkway.

No injuries were reported. However, SweeTARTS and Nestle chocolates spilled across the interstate, causing delays for morning commuters coming in from the Spaghetti Junction.

At 7 a.m., the roadway was cleared, but crews continued to offload the candy to another truck.

Three other wrecks nearby that are clogging the streets currently, including a school bus accident in Midtown on I-85 northbound, near 10th and 14th streets, blocking the center lanes.
