Man killed in wreck on I-20 east

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A tractor trailer driver may face charges in a fatal accident that shut down all lanes of eastbound Interstate 20 in DeKalb County Friday morning.

The interstate reopened shortly before 9 a.m., about three hours after the crash.

The wreck, which involved a pickup truck sliding under a tractor trailer, happened near Candler Road. DeKalb County Police Capt. Steven Fore said the tractor trailer stopped in a travel lane after experiencing a problem with its air brakes. A pickup truck then ran into the back of the stopped big rig.

The 30-year-old driver of the pickup truck died at the scene. His name was not released, pending notification of next of kin. The tractor trailer driver was not hurt, but may be charged, according to DeKalb County Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish.
