Man killed on I-20 in Carrollton identified

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- GA State Patrol identified the victim of a deadly crash that happened early Wednesday morning in Carroll Co. as 73-year-old killed George Echols from Smyrna.

CARROLLTON, Ga. -- GA State Patrol identified the victim of a deadly crash that happened early Wednesday morning in Carroll County as 73-year-old killed George Echols from Smyrna.

The crash between a tractor trailer and red van happened around 6:32AM on I-20E in Carrollton at mile post 14 just past HWY 27.

GA State Patrol said Echols was traveling east on I-20. The tractor trailer was parked off the south shoulder of the roadway with its emergency flashers on. Echols veered off the shoulder and truck the tractor trailer in the rear. He was ejected and died at the scene.

Images from the scene showed the van damaged badly, the entire front end was disconnected.
