ATLANTA - Get ready Atlanta, it's holiday time and that means lots of travelers coming through our busy Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The Thanksgiving travel period officially started here on Friday but the busiest day is expected to be this Sunday as travelers are trying to make their way back home after the festivities.
The second busiest day is expected to be on Wednesday.
If you are flying out or are hosting family and friends who are visiting, here are three things to keep in mind.
MORE SECURITY LANES
A third automated security lane has opened at the south security check point at Hartsfield-Jackson. This will allow 35% more people to go through an hour, hopefully alleviating some of the wait time for travelers.
The canopy construction outside of the domestic terminal is promised to cause very little disruption for those coming into or out of the airport.
NO UBER/LYFT STATIONS, YET
Uber and Lyft are not coming to the airport until January 1st, so for those who want to use that drive service, they will have to skirt the rules during this holiday season.
2.9 million people are expected to travel through Hartsfield-Jackson Airport this week.
Security checkpoints will open earlier and TSA plans to beef up security in order to accommodate and protect the high volume of holiday travelers.
