Atlanta tops 2015 lists of world's busiest airports

Airport trade group Airports Council International released its official figures for 2015 on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016. For the 18th consecutive year, Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) topped the list.

According to airport officials, more than 101 million people passed through the airport in 2015. It marked the first time the airport served more than 100 million passengers in a single year. Atlanta also claimed the top sport for more aircraft operations than any other airport in the world.

The report went on to list some of the reasons why Atlanta's airport moves such massive amounts of people, including its location. The ACI report specifically highlights the fact that ATL is a two-hour flight to 80 percent of the U.S. population.

Here are the world's ten busiest airports as determined by the group.
