2 officers killed in Hurricane Irma evacuation zone

Experts say the potential for damage with Irma is great.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. -- Two police officers were killed Sunday in a Hurricane Irma evacuation zone crash.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Julie Bridges was picking up supplies for a hurricane shelter when her patrol car collided with a vehicle driven by Sgt. Joseph Ossman, who was reporting for his shift at the Hardee Correctional Institution. 

Ossman served with the Florida Department of Corrections for 21 years.

Hardee County Sheriff Arnold Lanier said Bridges was a 13-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, according to WFLA.
