Roller coaster temperatures could break records this week

Roller coaster temps this week

Are you ready for more summer-like temperatures?  After a little taste of fall, our temperatures will be climbing again this week.  We have the potential to break some records this week.  The average high temperature for this time of year is 72 degrees.

We hit 83 degrees Monday afternoon.  The record high for Monday's date is 85 set in 2011.  We missed the record by just 2 degrees.  Tuesday's forecast is for a high temperature of 86 degrees.  The record for Tuesday's date is 86 set in 1984.  We could tie the record on Tuesday.  Wednesday's forecast high is expected to be 89 degrees.  The record for Wednesday's date is 87 set in 1938.  We think we will tie or possibly break the record on Wednesday.

The other record we've been watching all summer long is the number of days with temperatures of 90 or above.  On average, we would have 37 days at 90 or above.  So far this year, we've had 88 days of 90 or above.  The record is 90 days of 90 or above.  Right now, we are forecasting a high of 87 on Wednesday with some models predicting highs near 90 degrees.  That would be really close to that record.  We will be watching these temperatures very closely this week!
