Houston's restaurant closing Lenox Road location

Houston's restaurant confirmed it would be closing the Lenox Road location after March 31.

ATLANTA — A popular restaurant in Buckhead confirmed, Monday, that it would be closing its doors to the public at the end of the month.

Houston's restaurant confirmed it would be closing the Lenox Road location "after service" ends on Saturday, March 31.

A spokesperson for the restaurant told 11Alive that the decision to close came after they were unable to reach a long-term agreement with the property's ownership. The spokesperson said discussions about the future of Lenox Road restaurant had been in progress for almost a year.

"These discussions did not yield a long term agreement which resulted in our lease coming to an end," the spokesperson said.

The announcement does, however, come just days after Atlanta rapper T.I. announced a boycott against the restaurant would be lifted.

The boycott started around Oct. 10, 2017 after allegations of discrimination by the chain have spread via social media. “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Deb Antney, who is also a music manager and the mother of rap star Wacka Flock Flame, and actress Ernestine Johnson have both said that the restaurant refused to sit their large group.

Shortly after, the #BoycottHoustons social media campaign began and T.I. jumped in to urge customers to boycott all the Houston's restaurants. After "negotiations," though, the rapper said the boycott was over.

In Houston's statement to 11Alive, however, the spokesperson said the boycott had "no bearing on the decision to close this restaurant."
