FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — The lockdown at a Fayette County elementary school was lifted Monday afternoon as police continue to investigate reports of a suspicious person that walked into the building.
Fayetteville Police confirmed the precautionary lockdown at Spring Hill Elementary School was lifted on their Facebook page after searching the building for the suspect.
According to police, a suspicious person walked inside the school on Bradford Square and officials lost sight of that person. Officers searched the school, but did not find anyone.
"We will be working to identify the subject and further investigate the situation," Fayetteville Police said on their Facebook page.
At the time of the lockdown, the school day was over, but students were in the building for afterschool activities.
