NORCROSS, Ga. - Police have arrested the man accused of killing a mother inside her Gwinnett County home.
Perth Earl, 39, was arrested in northern Ohio according to Gwinnett County police. At around 2 a.m., 37-year-old Angela Burnet's body was found inside of a residence early Friday.
The home is located in the 4100 block of Niekro Parkway and the children were inside of the home when it happened.
"We don't believe that those three people witnessed what happened but we are investigating this as a homicide investigation," Gwinnet Police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.
A concerned friend from out of state told police that they had spoken with Earl earlier and believed something may have happened at the home. That friend was allegedly in contact with Earl throughout the day.
The first 911 call came at 2 a.m. An unknown person outside of Gwinnett called police after speaking with Earl.
"The person knew that something happened based on the conversation that that person had with the suspect, but didn't have any confirmation," Pihera said.
When investigators arrived to the home on Phil Niekro Parkway in unincorporated Norcross, they found Angela Burnett had been strangled to death.
"There was no obvious signs of trauma to her body. No gunshot wounds, no stab wounds," Pihera said. "We found evidence to support that a domestic happened between the suspect and the victim."
Earl and Burnett have two children together. The kids, along with a child Burnett had from a previous relationship, were all in the house when the murder took place. Police do not believe the children witnesses the crime.
Jail records show Earl was living in the same home up until late 2017 when he was arrested for simple battery and criminal trespass. Neighbors said Earl hasn't been living in that home recently.
"It hits home," neighbor Francis Baber said. "As you can see, I'm right across from there."
Earl was arrested for malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault. The children are staying with family members.
