"We don't believe that those three people witnessed what happened but we are investigating this as a homicide investigation," Gwinnet Police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.

Those three included her two younger children and one young adult with special needs. The father of the younger kids is the suspect, 39-year-old Perth Earl.

The call originally came in at around 2:00 a.m. on Friday when a concerned friend told police that they had spoken with the father earlier and believed something may have happened at the home. That friend called from out of state.

Police responded to the house and found Burnett.

"There was no obvious signs of trauma to her body. No gunshot wounds, no stab wounds," Pihera said.

"We found evidence to support that a domestic happened between the suspect and the victim."

Earl is wanted to malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. Police said they think he fled the state.

Neighbor Francis Baber has lived across the street for ten years. She said she often watches the younger children get on and off the school bus.

"It hits home. Because I mean as you can see I'm right across from there, it hits home," she said to 11Alive's Latasha Givens.
