The official Twitter account of the Mercedes Benz Stadium, home of Super Bowl 53, chimed in on a viral petition for a SpongeBob halftime show.

The idea to honor late SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg during the Super Bowl halftime show gained steam in early December.

The petition was signed by over 500,000 by Dec. 2. It now has nearly 1,000,000 signatures.

The halftime tribute would be based off the 2001 SpongeBob episode "Band Geeks," where SpongeBob and Squidward's band perform a rendition of "Sweet Victory" in front of a Super Bowl crowd.

The Mercedes Benz Stadium account tweeted a gif from that very episode on Dec. 12, feeding into the hysteria this petition has created.

Everyone is freaking out.
