Marlon Wayans, Forrest Whitaker, Audra McDonald, Titus Burges, and Grammy award winner Mary J Blige are all set to appear in the film.

ATLANTA — MGM has released the first trailer for the upcoming biopic about soul singer and music icon Aretha Franklin.

‘RESPECT’ stars Jennifer Hudson as the famed star, she was chosen by Franklin to in a biopic years before her untimely death.

Hudson, who won an Academy Award for her role as Effie White in the motion picture “Dreamgirls,” performs Franklin’s hit song “Respect” in the trailer.

Marlon Wayans, Forrest Whitaker, Audra McDonald, Titus Burges, and Grammy award winner Mary J Blige are all set to appear in the film.

While the teaser has moviegoers eager to see the story on the big screen, production is still going down in Atlanta.

Last month, The A-Scene shared that Hudson began filming scenes for the biopic at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

"It was exciting enough to sing for @tylerperry studio opening and I’m just as excited to shoot here today ! #Respect," she wrote.

Earlier this week, we revealed that casting producers were filling last minute roles before production picks up in January 2020.

So far, it appears that the basecamp sign used as the working title for this movie is “QOS,” which is the abbreviation of the singer’s title “Queen of Soul."

If you have what it takes, e-mail your resume and headshot to QOS.BACKGROUND@gmail.com.
