ATLANTA- The movie "Kin" has a lot going on. It's a crime drama. It's got some sci-fi elements,. But the duo behind the film says at its heart, it's a movie about family.
"Kin" hits theaters on August 31st. It tells the story of an ex-con fresh out of jail trying to protect his adopted teen brother (played by Myles Truitt) from a dangerous criminal, the feds, and some soldiers from another world. The only thing they have going for them are each other, and a mysterious weapon that falls into their hands.
The movie stars Dennis Quaid, Zoe Kravitz, and James Franco.
The writer-director duo Jonathan and Josh Baker behind the film are brothers from Australia. They've gained recognition for their short film work, but this is their first journey into a major production.
They trusted Atlanta teen Myles Truitt for their first big movie. You may recognize him from "The New Edition Story", and "Black Lightning".
Myles and the Baker brothers sat down with Francesca Amiker to talk about working together, and what you can expect from the movie.
