Cardi B responds to outrage after video surfaces admitting she drugged, robbed men

The former stripper shared that she went through great extremes to launch her music career, admitting that she would drug and rob men who wanted to have sex with her.

ATLANTA — Editor's note: An earlier version of this story contained incorrect information about what Cardi B. allegedly admitted to doing. The story has been corrected to reflect accurate information.

Cardi B is at the center of another controversial hashtag after people have come forward claiming the rapper drugged and robbed men before her days in the spotlight.

A clip of the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker surfaced on social media over the weekend of Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, discussing her lifestyle before making it big.

The former stripper shared that she went through great extremes to launch her music career and admitted that she would drug and rob men who wanted to have sex with her.

Almanzar, a Bronx native, was swarmed with a outrage and public mockery with the hashtag #SurvivingCardiB, a reference to the Lifetime documentary "Surviving R. Kelly," which chronicled decades of the singer Robert Kelly's alleged sexual misconduct.

Cardi B, who often responds to criticism on her social media platforms, treated this situation no differently.

"I made the choices I did at the time because I had very limited options," she said. "I was blessed to have been able to rise from that but so many women have not."

Earlier this year, Cardi B made history as the first female artist and Latina artist to win a Grammy for Best Rap Album.

She recently launched multiple other projects including a clothing line, and a collaboration with Rap Snacks.
