Casting Call: Actors needed to play wait staff in Aretha Franklin documentary

Filming takes place on Wednesday, January 22.

ATLANTA — Out of the more than 29 film and television projects currently in production around the state of Georgia, two of those projects are about the life of iconic soul singer Aretha Franklin.

“Respect” is an upcoming biopic on the star, while National Geographic’s “Genius” is a television documentary on Franklin.

Actors are needed for reenactment scenes involving a cocktail hour for "Genius."

The Southern Casting Call posted details about the shoot in Marietta being organized with the assistance of Central Casting.

Filming takes place on Wednesday, January 22.

The first role listed is for “COCKTAIL WAIT STAFF & BARTENDER”. Central Casting directors are looking for a male who portrays as Caucasian able to play age range 20-40.

The setting of the doc takes place during the 1960s so a “short natural colored hair that would be period-appropriate or willing to let us cut your hair and NO facial hair other than possibly a small tidy mustache.”

And if you have experience as a mixologist, this may be a good fit for you. Producers say having real experience is a plus because actors will be making cocktails on set.

National Geographic Genius is also looking for actors to play “VIP COCKTAIL PARTY GUEST”. This role is open to men and women between the ages of 30-60.

You must have a look appropriate for the 1960s.
