ATLANTA — Awards season is officially in full effect with a slew and considering Georgia’s booming entertainment scene, Hollywood’s most prestigious honor is set to impact the city.
Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ is the first superhero movie ever nominated for best picture. The Atlanta production was filmed in parts of Stone Mountain, and Pinewood Studios Atlanta.
The film is also nominated for Production Design, Costume Design, Original Score, Original Song, Sound Mixing and Sound Editing.
First Man’ starring Ryan Gosling is another production made in Atlanta at Tyler Perry Studios up for big awards for the 2019 Academy Awards. The Neil Armstrong biopic is nominated for Production Design, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects.

'Avengers: Infinity War' also shares a nomination for the Visual Effects category.
'Solo: A Star Wars Story' starring Stone Mountain's Donald Glover is up for the same award.
Lithonia's Shameik Moore's starred as the lead character in 'Spiderman : Into the Spider-verse' nominated for Best Animated Feature.
