TV shows and movies currently filming in Atlanta

“Ozark,” “Thunder Force,” “Ghost Draft” and “The Walking Dead” are some of productions taking place right now!

ATLANTA — More than 37 film and TV productions are being created in Georgia as 2019 nears a close -- and several residents are getting in on the action.

“Ozark,” “Thunder Force,” “Ghost Draft” and “The Walking Dead”  are some of productions taking place right now!

Here’s a look at what’s currently being filmed in Atlanta, and surrounding counties.

THUNDER FORCE

“TF” is the basecamp sign for “Thunder Force,” an upcoming American superhero comedy film directed and written by Ben Falcone.

Expect to see A-List stars Octavia Spencer and Melissa McCarthy in the area during the coming weeks.

Several blogs re-posted the images of the duo on set this week.

This is the first time two plus-size women will star as superheroes.

“Thunder Force” is expected to be released on Netflix next year.

OZARK

Production on the third season of the hit Netflix show “Ozark” is nearing an end in Atlanta, and casting producers were filling last minute roles, earlier this week.

Ozark is produced by Bateman’s Aggregate Films in association with Media Rights Capital for Netflix Inc. and was created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams.

The fictional series follows the financial conflicts of a family from Chicago to the Ozark Mountains.

Earlier this summer, we spotted Bateman's character Marty Byrd's van in Stone Mountain.

COMING 2 AMERICA: QUEST

The highly anticipated sequel to Eddie Murphy’s “Coming to America” has been filming in Atlanta for several weeks, and the stars and crew behind the scenes have us clinging on to every piece of info on social media.

Arsenio Hall, who starred alongside Murphy in the original, teased production taking place at Tyler Perry Studios.

“Coming 2 America: Quest” will feature Murphy again and it will center around his character Prince Akeem.

In the sequel, he returns to the States to find his long-lost son in America so he can take the throne.

Hip-hop mogul Rick Ross revealed scenes for the movie are taking place at this South Fulton county mansion.

Here is how you can spot some of the action in your neighborhood.

Eddie Murphy's 1988 hit grossed nearly $300 million at the worldwide box office. The sequel is expected to hit theaters Aug. 7, 2020.

DISNEY’S SAFETY

A-Scene Insider Joshua Williams spotted production the upcoming Disney film “SAFETY” filming near Clayton State University.

According to the Internet Movie Database, the film is based on the story of Ray-Ray McElrathbey, a freshman football player for Clemson University, who secretly raised his younger brother on campus after his home life became too unsteady.

Atlanta Business Chronicle reports crews began filming this movie back in September under the production code “Blue Ridge”.

SUICIDE SQUAD :2

The sequel to Suicide Squad is in full swing, and we spotted director and some members of the cast spending time off set in the city.

The cast of the movie is filming in town this week, and we found out where they like to grub!

Poor Calvin’s, which is an Asian fusion restaurant off Piedmont, was the choice for dinning for director James Gunn.

He posted these photos on his Instagram: You can see Michael Rooker, Pom Klementief from "Guardians of the Galaxy," Jennifer Holland and German Actor Flula Borg. No sign of Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis or John Cena.

“Suicide Squad," which filmed in Toronto for the original, began production in Atlanta in September.

The action-packed film is part of the shared DC cinematic universe that began with “Man of Steel” and continued with 2016's “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” with Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman.

The "Suicide Squad" sequel comes out August 2021.

LOVECRAFT COUNTRY

J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele are busy filming in parts of Atlanta for “Lovecraft Country," a one-hour drama series by HBO.

The story follows a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.

Michael Kenneth Williams, who once played in HBO’s inner-city drug traffic series “The Wire,” will star as Black.

VIOLENCE OF ACTION

If you see the yellow production sign “VOA” in Georgia, it’s likely for the upcoming Chris Pine film “Violence of Action”.

The Tarik Saleh directed action movie has been seen near GA-400 and Lenox .

According to the Internet Movie Database, the story follow James Reed played by Pine.

After being involuntarily discharged from the Marines, his character joins a paramilitary organization in order to support his family in the only way he knows how.
