'This was entertainment to them | Montgomery Blair High School student shows injuries from alleged attack

Cayla Watson says she and her friend were assaulted by six teenage girls in a mall bathroom. Montgomery County police say they are still investigating.

WASHINGTON — A 16-year-old girl said she and her friend were allegedly attacked inside a mall bathroom by six teenage girls.

Cayla Watson's swollen eye and physical scars are getting better, but she worries the emotional scars may never heal.

"You just don't think you go to the mall and six random girls are going to jump you," Watson said.

Watson was with her friend, another Montgomery Blair High School student, last Wednesday when they say the attack started. Watson said they were using the bathroom near the Ross inside Ellsworth Place Mall in Silver Spring, Md.

Watson said six teenage girls, who she had never met before, came in and began verbally attacking her. She said she remembers seeing two pairs of shoes.

"I remember them coming in antagonizing, saying, 'You guys are being nasty,'" Watson said.

Watson said she opened the bathroom door and the fighting began. She told police six teenage girls took their turns kicking and punching both her and her friend, and while they tried to defend themselves, they were outnumbered.

Watson said two of the teens filmed the attack on their phones and stole her and her friend's cellphones and a credit card. Watson said she believes the alleged attackers used the card at a McDonald's that night.

The attack was very puzzling to Watson's mother, Candice Watson.

"They were being stomped and kicked in the head," Candice Watson said. "You wouldn't imagine high school girls would do that to a complete stranger."

Montgomery County police did not confirm if they obtained any surveillance video from the mall, instead they said they are still investigating.

Anyone with information on the assault is asked to Montgomery County police.
