PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies are searching for two dogs that they believe killed two miniature-breed horses before turning on the owner of the slain animals and nearly attacking him as well.

Pickens County deputies said the horses' owner tried to stop the attack but ended up firing a gun toward the dogs when they turned their attention toward him.

The dogs, described as a red pitbull with a wide red collar and a brown and gray pit-boxer mix, ran from the area and are still on the loose according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies are cautioning residents in the area of Old Philadelphia Road, Arminda Street or Glyness Street that the dogs may be in their area. Residents who spot them are asked to call 911.
