Rather than waiting until the First Day of School, many parents want to get a jump on the lines and get their supply closets stocked before school starts.

Students in each grade have different types of supplies they need, based on the work in each classroom. The teachers have their preferences, but here's a general listing separated by grade.
This list is collated from several schools' existing lists and is meant as a starting point. Your own list may need to vary upward or downward, depending on your school, the number of little ones you are shopping for, the requirements your school may have and your own personal preferences.
- 3 boxes of #2 pencils
- Pencil sharpener (that becomes an "only if you need it" item; you should already have this at home)
- 4 small glue sticks
- 1 box of tissues
- 6 dry erase markers
- 4 fat pink erasers
- 4 assorted color highlighters
- 1 box of colored pencils
- 1 box of thin, washable Crayola markers
- 1 pair of pointy student scissors
- 3 solid color, single-subject, 70-sheet, Wide Ruled spiral notebooks (no characters or decorations on the front)
- 1 pack of white copy paper
- 1 pack of Ziploc gallon size bags
- 1 pack of Ziploc sandwich size bags
- 3 composition notebooks, Wide Ruled
- 1 pair of thin-wired headphones for computer listening
- 6 twin-pocket folders with prongs for inserting loose-leaf papers
- 6 twin-pocket folders without prongs
- 2 loose-leaf notebooks
- 2 packs of Wide Ruled, lined notebook paper
