Atlanta Police to have ‘visible’ presence at Peach Drop on New Year's Eve

Clear bags are encouraged if you’re ringing in the New Year at this year’s Peach Drop at the Atlanta Underground.

Atlanta Police are warning partygoers to plan ahead before attending this year’s Peach Drop on New Year’s Eve.

Bags will be searched at all access points and people are encouraged to bring clear bags to speed up the process. Skateboards, chairs, coolers, umbrellas, drones, pets, bicycles and hoverboards are among some of the prohibited items.

For those who plan to drive to Underground Atlanta, park in metered spaces or legitimate pay lots, Atlanta Police said. Violators will be subjected to towing. Even loose change can attract car prowlers so make sure to take all valuables out of the car.

During the day and throughout Peach Drop, Atlanta Police will staff a joint operations center to coordinate emergency response if needed. Officers will be visible throughout the venue and surrounding areas. Undercover officers will be monitoring for any suspicious activity, Atlanta Police said.

Entrances to Underground Atlanta for Peach Drop will be on Peachtree Street, Marietta Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m.

People downtown should expect congestion throughout the area starting at 3:30 p.m. Concertogers are encouraged to use MARTA or rideshare to reduce traffic.
